A delegation of the Norwegian Pakistan Partnership Initiative (NPPI) project, headed by Unicef representative Dan Rohrman, visited Sindh chief secretary Muhammad Ijaz Chaudhry at Sindh Secretariat to review the progress of the project on Tuesday.
The project was launched by the Norwegian premier and it falls under the umbrella of a global campaign for Health Millennium Development Goals.
The NPPI started supporting the maternal newborn and child health programme, which aimed to reduce maternal, newborn and under five year old mortality in 10 districts in Sindh, two years ago.
The project’s deadline was March 2014 but the chief secretary suggested extending the deadline till December 2014. The NPPI project has trained 1,272 midwives and 784 are getting trained. The chief secretary appreciated NPPI services and assured his full support.
