Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday said Pakistan wants strong economic ties with the United States (US), during a Pakistan-US investment conference in Dubai, a private news channel reported.
According to the channel, the minister said that the national economy faces major challenges like the budget deficit and a balance of payments crisis, and a strategy has been formulated to resolve all economic challenges. Dar said subsidies would now target particular segments of the population and a strong social protection system would be introduced to tackle the issue of poverty.
Earlier while addressing the conference, Water and Power Minister Khawaja Asif said that there is a lot of scope for investment in Pakistan’s energy sector. He stated that due to an independent judiciary and a vibrant media, Pakistan has an investment friendly environment.
