Intel unveils latest range of processors

Processors better in performance, graphics and power consumption.

KARACHI: “What’s inside is what’s important” was the slogan of Intel Pakistan as it unveiled its latest product – the 4th generation Intel Core processors family – here on Tuesday.

The 4th generation Intel Core processors are capable of delivering up to 15% better performance than the previous generation, claims Intel. They can bring a 50% improvement in battery life over the previous generation and two to three times improvement in standby battery life.

This is the most important and most significant launch in Intel’s history, Country Manager Naveed Siraj said.

The new range of processors helped reduce power consumption from 35 watts in 2010 to only 6 watts in 2013.

In a presentation marked with features like longer battery life, improved graphics and thin and flexible touch PC designs, Intel’s country head told the audience that there would be a five-time increase in touch devices Intel will have shipped by the end of the year. By 2015, almost all the Intel’s shipments would comprise touch-enabled devices, he said.



He also devoted a good part of his presentation to two-in-one Ultrabooks – one of the main attractions of the launch ceremony. All new Ultrabooks will be touch-enabled and have Intel Wireless Display capability built in to bring natural touch and motion interactivity and speed mode for low-latency gaming on the big screen, according to Intel.

Although the launch ceremony in Pakistan took place two weeks after the global launch, Intel partners – both international and local companies – are all set to sell the devices with Intel’s 4th generation chips inside.
