FY 2013-2014: Rs24.6 billion budget presented in G-B Assembly
Rs9 billion have been earmarked for development projects, Rs1.5 billion to non-development expenditure.

An annual budget of approximately Rs24.6 billion for the fiscal year 2013-14 was presented in the Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) Assembly on Tuesday.
Finance Minister Mohammad Ali Akhtar delivered the budget speech in the assembly.
Akthar said Rs9 billion have been earmarked for development projects while Rs1.5bilion has been allocated to non-development expenditure. A 10% increase in government employee salaries was also approved and Rs629 million have been allocated for education and Rs2.14 billion for the energy and power sector.
Chief Minister Mehdi Shah and other cabinet members were also present.
An opposition legislator, Nawaz Khan Naji, boycotted the session initially, calling it a “futile exercise”. However, he returned immediately to the house.
