In his first visit to Peshawar after PTI formed government in K-P, Imran urged for the formulation of a home-based national policy to restore peace in the region.
Addressing press officials after meeting with the coalition partners of K-P at the Chief Minister Secretariat, Imran said, "Before 2004, there was peace in the tribal area but the military operations carried out at the behest of US destroyed that."
He said that for restoring law and order, the federal government must distance itself from the war on terror.
"Whenever the government initiates peace talks with Taliban, US carries out drone strikes which sabotages the entire process," Imran explained.
He further said, "PTI will back federal government if they come up with an anti-drone policy."
Role of MPAs
In its bid to control corruption in the province, PTI will bar K-P’s elected members from transferring public servants.
Imran, while announcing this move, said earlier MPAs would transfer government officers if they refuse to become a party to their crime.
He said the K-P government will now investigate each case and those found guilty will be dealt according to the law.
"We are trying to reduce government expenses and finding new ways of increasing government revenue," Khan said.
He said that 32 rest-houses reserved for MPAs in Galyat will be converted to guest houses so they could earn revenue which can then be spent on the development of the area.
Assets
The PTI chairman said all K-P ministers, lawmakers and bureaucrats will declare their assets and details will be put on government websites.
Imran said this way people will be able to see the increase in their wealth and check it against their source of income.
Royalties
Speaking about Karak and Kohat – areas that are paid royalties, Imran said the money was earlier paid to the legislators but now the government will set up district development authorities which will receive the money and use it for development.
Sports facilities
Imran promised that sports facilities will be established at district-level in the province, with focus on cricket, squash, hockey and volleyball.
He further said that the revival of Pakistan’s cricket will begin from K-P, where he himself will work closely with the local sports authorities.
Imran went on to claim that the team from K-P will alone be capable enough to represent Pakistan at the international level.

@Conflicted: "Don’t know whether I should laugh at pti’s naivety or cry at its stupidity"
Neither bhaijaan - just admire IK's astute side-stepping - he has to save his wicket for the bigger innings in 2018.
Cricket at the federal level was always a 3-team game - Sher, Teer and Umpire (mere aziz hum-watanon, suo-moto, whatever) - IK has filled the void created by Umpire Saab's unusual semi-retirement, so logically Phainta has the best chance next time.
The excuses are starting to flow thick and fast. The Kaptaan is just now beginning to realize that talk is cheap and actually managing a state is a lot harder than running a school or a hospital.
@Iftikhar Khan: If the TTP stops killing Pakistanis and starts fighting American forces in Afghanistan from bases in the tribal areas, what do you think the US will do, sit back and watch? If you allow your territory to be used as a launching pad for violence against a neighboring state, expect a violent response. Why is this so difficult for some Pakistani's to grasp?
Hats off to you kaptaan! All the best wishes! We are with you always and forever:)
Herr Kaptain could start this illusionary "national terrorism policy" by actually using the words "TTP" and "Terrorist(s)" in the same sentence!!!!'
If IK was PM of Pakistan, and not ruling in K-P, he would have said " national-govt-cannot-succeed-in-k-p-without-provincial-terrorism-policy" . Interesting to know what excuse he would have had if PTI was ruling Pakistan and in K-P.
@Omair,
Agreed that since IK was not able to form the federal government and is now trying to put pressure on the federal government to do the needful. If in the event the federal government does not pay heed to his pressure, would he resign from KPK government, National Assembly and Punjab Assembly? Remember, you can't have your cake and eat it too or in other words one cannot sit in the government and parliament and protest at the same time. Does this logic sound familiar?
@Khan Gul:
On the spot there my brother! What IK can really demand from his CM is to stop flying on government helicopter to attend a wedding in the family ;)
By "national terrorism policy" does Imran mean Pakistan should finally give up it national policy of use of terrorism for geopolitical goals? Give up forever on the good and bad terrorist policy? Anything short of this will not free Pakistan from being eaten alive by the self-created Frankensteins.
Imran khan thats y i dont like u. u r not practical in politics. u just dont know this art. u know nothing about administration. u r good for only criticizing people
At least he's talking like a politician now..........already preparing grounds to cover an expected poor performance after promising much................not bad, at all.
The nation has already voted on this issue.
The nation has rejected your ideas.
Time to respect the nation's mandate and fall in line.
I think it's about time the KPK "government" stops talking and starts delivering. People are smart nowadays and even the most die hard supporters of PTI won't be defending it for long if it keeps passing the buck to the Federal Government for the next 5 years.
So now Khan, Saab wants a National Terrorism Policy, when MQM called for the same he had wildly spoken against it. For God's Sake will somebody think for the nation in whole, rather than just scoring political mileage?
@jibran you must be paid by ET for commenting every post. i hv never seen a single post without your comments. :)
Too bad that PTI trolls are caught between a devil and deep blue sea. All what IK had been prophesying for the last couple of years was basically contingent upon him generating a Tsunami , winning all of 342 seats in the lower house of Parliament and sitting pretty as PM. Too bad that the eventual results didn't pan out as exactly planned and hence the U-Turns and smokescreens.
@Iftikhar Khan:
You are promoting terrorism
Mr. khan ! Is 18th amendment not applicable for KPK??? i d,nt think so,,,that was what you used to remind the Punjab government frequently.
put the blame on PTI DEar readers
There is a race between PTI and PMLN to appease TTP. Whoever wins we lose.
He is the man, and he knows how not to become another ANP . He will not make PTI a dare devil party. Pathan have always suffered because of its nature, exploited by many internal and external powers. Mr. Khan you are the one. We love Pakistan but don't want to suffer anymore be it terrorism, cricket, royalties, energy crisis or power sharing .
IK, You are being mocked by sarcastic people. Please shut them up by asking your KPK admin to stop NATO supply lines from 'today'. Also, please ask your reasonable talk partners 'TTP' to prove to everyone that how peace they were and are by unconditionally stop killing innocent Pakistani's and start fighting American forces directly. This will shut up all the idiots who are mocking you here.
Imran used to say for Karachi that police force is politicized. If it were depoliticized, a lot can be achieved. Well police is under provincial government, why doesn't he depoliticize KPK police? HE said if there is development in province, terrorism will go down - who stops him from development in KPK? His manifesto spoke a lot about ensuring education for women, yet Abrar Alvi says that they are ready to shut down co-ed schools if TTP demands. In some areas where there are resources for only one school, this will mean that only boys school will reman - no school for girls. The biggest issue according to him was corruption. Why not stop corruption in 90 days as he promised at least in KPK? Surely none of these things have anything to do with anti-terror policy by the center?
Now that rubber meets the road, suddenly he realizes that things are not as simple as he thought.
Drones killed 3,000+. Taliban Killed 30,000+. (Mosques,Bazaars,Schools) First KAPOTEIN must ASK the TALIBAN to stop bombing Mosques,Schools and Bazaars. Once they have stopped then the negotiations can begin.
Don't know whether I should laugh at pti's naivety or cry at its stupidity
“Before 2004, there was peace in the tribal area but at the behest of US, military operations in the region sabotaged peace.”
Before Afghan Jihad there were no Islamist terrorist in the country. Before Jahilans (Taliban) there was limits of atrocities over civilians. Before attack of Osama on US there was no concern of US in this region.
Stop making such lame excuses. These Fundamentalist / Extremist are product of Afghan Jehad. You can not roll back the history. Do the justice. Will the Killers will of 40,0000 Pakistanis will be pardoned because of enmity with US.?
I voted for PTI, but I seriously hope that he still doesn't think that if drone strikes are stopped the TTP will magically stop their mayhem. These people are not worth negotiating with, especially given their recent actions. He should be explicitly encouraging FATA residents and tribals to fight against the extremists within themselves, until and unless that is done he is merely skirting around the issue by beating the drum about drones while ignoring the elephant in the room.
“We are trying to reduce government expenses and finding new ways of increasing government revenue,” Khan said.
This cannot be done until the CM KPK is attending wedding ceremonies on government helicopters funded by taxpayers:

An excellent leader pioneers excellent initiatives!!
I am totally astounded at the extent of unawareness of some of the people here. They simply cannot understand the nuances of a federation. What falls into the federal and provincial domains? What IK used to say in his campaign, rhetorically or else, was from the standpoint of forming the federal government. As we all know, people of Pakistan did not elect him to run the federal government! He is now dependent on the federal government for certain things for which is continuously putting pressure. How does it make it a 'U turn'? He cannot factually contest the drones as it is a federal subject. He cannot block the supply routes as it is also a federal government policy. If he says that the foreign and interior policy will determine how peace is restored in the country, I don't understand what is so difficult to understand here. Criticism for the sake of criticism is not amusing at all.
@Naseer Ahmad:
National Policy or no National Policy, a provisional government is duty bound to ensure the safety of life and property of its citizens. Are you implying that if the Federal Government decides against doing anything or formulating a strategy, a provisional government would just sit and engage in chest thumping?
As for NATO Supply Line, not too long ago IK was claiming something like this:
http://tribune.com.pk/story/177978/against-drone-attacks-pti-to-block-nato-supply-lines-permanently/
Did he not realize back then that this matter came under the Federal purview?
So if you write down a policy then the issue will automatically be solved? Another simplistic solution from a politician who is trying to focus blame on anyone but himself.
@Naseer Ahmad: This is to hide yourself behind paper lions. You can announce your provincial terrorism policy and implement. Whether constitution forbid you? you can eliminate terrorists from your province. Whether constitution forbid you? you can stop entering the terrorists from S & N Waziristan to KPK. Whether constitution forbid you? You can stop terrorists to cross KPK and going onward to other parts of Pakistan. Whether constitution forbid you? You can stop supply of weapons to other parts of country. Whether constitution forbid you? Where is his bat and your infamous “Phainta
You may leave then.
@MA: But Imran Khan is asking help from paper lions (kaaghzi sher), the height of naivety. Moreover, the CM Sindh never made claims like IK. In addition, if you have read the constitution thoroughly, you may come to know that maintaining law and order is the sole responsibility of provincial government and paper lion has nothing to do in it except with some stringent conditions. Now ask your leader to come forward and do what ever he promised before elections and do not hide behind paper lion
Yep, blame it on the federal gov. ... Punjab gov. did the same for the last 5 years.
Imran the Real Leader Of Pakistan will get the target.
@Sgrr Formulation of National Terrorism Policy is the sole prerogative of the federal cabinet and IK demand in this regard is justified. As for blocking NATO supply, again this is the domain of federal government which is making requests to the US for the release of 800 million dollars of Coalition Support Fund, a kind of payment of reimbursement bill for the charges already incurred by the Government of Pakistan for its partnership in war on terror. The P)ML(N) government has not yet decided to move out of this partnership with the US.
He is same as others....
Finally smelling the coffee are we!? How and why should a provisional government be dependent upon the National Government to eradicate terrorism and lawlessness from within its territorial confines or block NATO supply line passing through its territory.
Mr. Khan has for the upteenth time reinforced that he is the U-Turn Khan.
Sometimes IK seems to be TTP's spokesman...
@Saad: lets not lose logic while defending our political affiliations. IK was expecting provincial govt to start projects of billions without federal sovereign guarantee. now he is linking policing and law & order work to federal government. the guy is confused from day one.
Mr. khan no one is stopping your govt in KPK to arrest and prosecute terrorists. Its not the job of federal govt so dont blame them. The law and order has been a provincial subject even before 18th amendment. dont try to fool us..........even if you want to negotiate the KPK govt can do it as ANP did in the past. Do something rather than just talk.
Its another matter that your govt in KPK has even failed to allot prtfolios to ministers despite a heavy cabinet...........looks like insafians are really dyeing to serve this nation and no one cares about the terrorism.
Imran khan, where is your bat and your infamous "Phainta".
excuses excuses!! or elite is full of it
how many of the readers are in favour of an army operation in Karachi?......i bet plenty, So why not CM Sindh simply order army chief to conduct it...he can't because it could only be decided by the Central govt i.e. Prime minister and consensus b/w members of the National Assembly. Although 18th amendment allows provincial govt to enjoy numerous powers but it doesn't allow "all" powers. that is what IK is referring to ...do yourself a favour and read the constitution carefully and save ur sarcasm and wisdom for some other day.
@abc:Our leaders do not know what they are talking. Imran is no exception. He mettle is put to test now and he failing miserably on all fronts. Making tall claims and emotional speeches as opposition is altogether a different ball game than implementing them when you are in government. Good luck KPK.
Where are your policy papers and talks of negotiations...
Seems like your highly propagated policy papers were prepared by the same people who borrowed hundreds of billions of rupees for fancy fertilizer project without realizing that there was no gas in the country.
Police is under the control of Provincial Government and KPK government forgot to allot any Extra funds for them rather they redirected that money to education and now Imran has started age old game of blaming others.
For terrorism, we accept your argument. But there is no excuse for controlling electricity theft, bringing education and health revolution as you promised, and improving infrastructure. I hope you will be able to do these without the aid of federal govt.
Imran Khan can you stop moaning and start doing some work. You use to claimthat everything is prepared for your party to start work from day one.
May ALLAH give you success
You have clear policy in your mind i.e. stop NATO supply, protest against drones in South & North Waziristan, Why dont your party's Government do it itself. Who is stopping you to stop NATO supply as the roads are provincial subject. Further why dont you continue your processionMarch to S & N Waziristan which you were leading before election. Why you are looking at paper lions for initiating these action. Take the bat and start war against drones & NATO supply.
@roadkashehzada: There is a huge difference in energy and terrorism issues. He always lambasted the Sharif government for the former not the latter.
Respected khan sb, people of KPK voted you for a change but you are no different so far than previous government. Stop talking and start doing something positive for them.
@Adnan: Face saving for what exactly?
face saving attempts started
wht happened to 18th Amendment that IK used to refer to criticize previous punjab government? anyway, neutrally speaking, first we had a disclaimer from NS, then Ishaq dar, then khwaja asif and now latest from IK. all the best pakistani nation.
@Imran Khan : Why don't you prepare a draft and submit in the national assembly for debate ? No use crying, take initiative.
You are the CAPTAIN!
Love you IK...wish you success
I love imrans this style of talking and look it at qureshi how he is watching at him hahaha
A law-abiding citizen has born in lawless country.
Na no mun tail ho ga, na radha nache gi seems true for both PTI and PMLN.
Every time this man speaks, he makes sense and any plan he announces, I consider it done!
What happened to peace jirga and negotiations and blocking NATO supplies?
Man with a mission.
5 years down the line he'll point to this day and wash his hands off all responsibility.
