Postmortem of the tourists confirmed that their deaths were caused by firing.
The incident took place near a camp base, where the tourists were staying.
TTP spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan called The Express Tribune and said the group’s faction named Junud-e-Hafsa carried out the brutal attack.
He said the killing was revenge against the US drone attacks and killing of TTP chief Waliur Rehman Mehsud.
“This will tell the international community about our feelings and sentiments against the killing of our fighters,” he said.
Government officials said five Ukrainians and a number of Chinese were killed. One Pakistani also died and one Chinese survivor has been recovered.
The climbers were staying at a first camp, around 4,200 feet from Nanga Parbat, one of the highest mountains in the world, in the Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan.

@Frankly speaking.... you are right but the mistake Pakistan(or Musharraf) made was to abruptly abandon them instead of slowly dismantling these organisation and reintegrating the members into normal life.The result was they found foreign mentors like India who donot miss an opportunity to vent their hatred of Taliban but when it suits they use the same Taliban to target Pakistan. Negotiation should be started with TTP in Saudi Arabia. They do not need new flag as the flag of Afghanistan is shared by both good and bad Taliban. But if we are too keen to have a place at the table then Qatar can play the host to TTP also. The Emir, worldview, ideology, mindset and vision of both faction are one and the same. Homework needs to be undertaken what to give to TTP. The other side of the equation of take is very simple as have nothing to offer. As a benchmark We should be prepared to share power with TTP. As a pilot project IK can asked and i am sure he would be more than willing to accommodate them in KPK govt. Finance ministry could be the choicest ministry and i hope Sirajul Haq will be offering it on platter. But If he is a bit hesitant on account of his expertise a new ministry of Jihad can be created for TTP to help create army of Khurasan with active support of Zaid Hamid. Hamid Gul's consent should also be sought viz-a-viz offering strategic depth to TTP in Pakistan. Where does Fazlurrehman stand? Well the riddle will be resolved by JM Achakzai. Surprising I am yet to see mention (in the comments section of any Pak newspaper) about India , CIA or Israel/Mossad etc for this particular incident ... aren't these entities supposed to be the real "brains" and sponsors behind the likes of the TTP ??? What better way than this to embarrass Pakistan? TTP is a mercenary wing of the CIA, Mossad and RAW. They are supported and funded to carry attacks on our soil and with the intent to destroy PAKISTAN. You will never hear of TTP carrying out attacks against the NATO forces in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, our strong army's sold out upper cadre will never openly bring up this hard fact and they have also imposed a ban on any debate to this issue other than the usual 'Taliban' bashing we normally get to hear. Calming Vs. blaming responsibility it seems the same. The role of media and its reporting have adversely polluting the environment and worsen the situation more against the grown facts. To prove either such calls, video or calming statement should be realised, on-air else the opposite side should be given access to the media to represent their response or comments. In Pakistan the media is fully free and responsible in making the situation more critical, reporting unverified reporting and working against the code of conduct without access to both side and propagating negative image of the country.
