KARACHI:

Top-seed Nasir Iqbal and qualifier Mansoor Zaman, former world number 11, will vie for the PSF-POF International Squash Circuit-II Tournament title at Wah Cantt today.

Nasir defeated Tayyab Aslam 3-0 with game scores of 11-6, 11-8 and 11-4, while Mansoor won 3-1 against Sheikh Saqib in the other last-four encounter.

Meanwhile, the trio of Farhan Mehboob, Farhan Zaman and Danish Atlas all faced quarter-final defeats and then complained over the height of the tin at the POF squash court.

According to the players, the height of the tins in the Professional Squash Association (PSA) events are set at 17 inches. However, in this event, the height is more than 19. This has led to several fouls being recorded at the event and has proved to be an advantage to players who are retrievers.

“We’ve written to the PSA about the height of the tin,” one of the players told The Express Tribune. “They’ve asked us for pictures which we have sent. The matches were also started very early in the morning which is also against what happens during PSA events.”
