DI KHAN:

The DI Khan All Class IV Employees Association on Saturday staged a protest in Haq Nawaz Park demanding a 100% increase in their salaries as opposed to the 10% increment awarded in the 2013-2014 budget.

All Class IV Employees Association President Fida Hussain Baloch, General Secretary Sayed Najaf Ali Shah and others including local leaders Karim Nawaz Baloch, Abdul Aziz, Saqib Tanveer and Sher Zaman Gandapur were present at the demonstration.

Addressing the protestors, Hussain announced class IV employees had rejected the prescribed increase in their salaries as they wanted double of what they were currently being paid. She added if the government failed to meet this demand, the protest would continue.

“Lower-ranked government employees are passing through a difficult time, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to fulfil basic needs,” said Gomal University President Khuram Shahzad Paracha. “Due to the prices of daily-use items consistently increasing, we are not able to pay our children’s school fees.”

Khuram added the government must pay attention to lower cadres employees and make a genuine effort to address their concerns.
