Police killed two suspected militants in retaliatory fire.

A police official was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Ambela area of Buner district Friday afternoon.


Upon receiving intelligence information, Nawagai police officials raided the hideout of some suspects in the remote mountainous region of Ambela, said DPO Buner, Jehanzeb Bangash.

While trying to escape, the suspects opened fire at the police, killing Assistant Sub Inspector Amir Rangzeb on the spot. The suspects then fled to the other side of the mountain range.

After the incident, a heavy contingent of police along with security forces rushed to the spot and cordoned it off, added DPO Bangash. “We also started searching for the suspects in the surrounding areas,” he said. The search operation was under way till the filing of this report.
