Rangers’ raids: Key accused in Arshad Pappu murder case arrested

A key accused in the Arshad Pappu murder case was arrested and three kidnapped persons were rescued in two separate raids in Lyari by the Rangers on Friday.
In a targeted raid, Rangers arrested ASI Ali Bakir, a suspect in the murder of Pappu, his brother and a companion, from Lyari.
Earlier, the police had arrested three SHOs, Yousuf Baloch, Chand Khan Niazi and Javed Baloch, allegedly involved in the brutal killing of Pappu.
A Rangers spokesperson told The Express Tribune that the raid was conducted on a tip off about Bakir’s presence in the area.
Separately, Rangers arrested three kidnappers and rescued three abductees kidnapped allegedly by the Lyari gangsters from their hideout in Singu Lane. All three are traders by profession and were kidnapped from Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Defence.
They were identified as Shahryar, Omar and Shehryar. Omar, kidnapped on June 13, is said to be a son of a retired army officer and is a resident of Defence.
The kidnappers had demanded Rs20 million as ransom for his release and warned the family of dire consequences in case of failure to make the payment.
The suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning.
