The referendum should be held across the country within three days, Hussain told members of MQM Coordination Committee in a live telephonic address in Karachi.
On Sunday, a three-member PPP delegation comprising, former interior minister Rehman Malik, Pir Mazharul Haq and Makhdoom Jamiluz Zaman held a meeting at the MQM’s Nine-Zero headquarters and invited the party to join the provincial government.
MQM office bearers advised Hussain to decide in favour of sitting on the opposition benches in the Sindh Assembly earlier on Monday.
The MQM chief will make the final decision.

@mrs ahmed: No its called 'Showing the Mirror'
Trying to make a fool out of everyone including themselves; that's called democracy!
@PTI Mardan .. Only if you had attend a school at some stage of your life.. Life would have been so different for you ..
@RT and no coordination committee is not a representative of the workers. Coordination committee is responsible for 'coordination' between different processes of the organization. They are general workers appointed for specific tasks based on merit and experience.
A book can be written about the political games that MQM has played to remain in power......(it is different story that the book will not sell) MQM should grow up after the last election and stop fooling the people
@ RKM - I think the % would be higher. Out of 3 Million MQM members , around 3.4 Million would say lets join Sindh Government :)
All this is a drama. MQM can't sit on opposition benches for next five years. Rather than outright rejecting MQM office bearers advised why wouldn't Altaf Hussain just say to join the government.
This referendium is all topi-drama. At end of the day this party can't stay away from govt and money. If they go in opposition, it is guaranteed there'll be tyre-jame strikes once a week for next 5 years.
If they go in alliance with PPP then next 5 years will be just like previous 5 years. Bad news for my fellow karachiates either way ;/
@PTI Mardan: Its called Kowtowing to an Elevated Superior Person by people of inferior rank.
@RKM: i am confused is it some new style of MQM bashing , ok carry on
@PTI Mardan: why do you worry about it
After witnessing May 11 elections, I am sure MQM will get 95% majority in favour of joining Sind Govt. If you know what I mean.
If the coordination committee has already given its recommendation of NOT joining the government (as reported previously), it does not make sense to have a referendum among workers. The committee consists of members who represent MQM workers. I suppose the purpose of the committee's existence is to provide recommendations on behalf of its own qualified analysis and leadership skills.
It is a difficult decision, no doubt, but have to make it. I am sure the referendum will not be rigged in favour of yes
May God give them an understanding of Pakistani politics to make good decisions in the future..
Everybody knows all decisions for MQM come from London,so why this drama then? Also, why all the participents have a pens and writing pads in hands when Altaf Hussain is making his speeches? What is it that they find so important to note it down?
