Tennis: Aqeel to face Shaukat in final today

National champion Aqeel Khan defeats Muhammad Abid in men's singles event.

KARACHI:

National champion Aqeel Khan made it to the final of the Mahfooz Safar National Ranking Championship 2013 men’s singles event after he defeated Muhammad Abid 6-4, 6-2 in Islamabad yesterday.

Aqeel will face Imran Shaukat, who defeated Islamabad’s Usman Ejaz 6-3, 6-2, in the final today. Meanwhile, Mudassir Murataza clinched the boys’ under-18 singles title with a 6-2, 7-6 (3) win over Arham Atiq. In the women’s singles event, top-seed Sara Mansoor defeated Alina Aftab 6-0, 6-1 to book a final against former Pakistan number one Sarah Mahboob, who defeated Meheq Khokhar 6-3, 6-2.
