LONDON: Alex Ferguson’s first team sheet as Manchester United manager is to go under the hammer and could sell for between £2,000 and £3,000 according to the auctioneers.

The hand-written team sheet from November 8, 1986 is to be sold on behalf of an Oxford United fan, who was given it by former player Peter Rhoades-Brown.

Oxford United won the encounter at the Manor Ground 2-0 in front of 13,500 fans.

The club were League Cup winners in 1986 but declined in spectacular fashion after relegation from the old Division One in 1988 and dropped into the part-time Conference in 2006.

They were promoted last season and this campaign began in the fourth tier League Two.

Ferguson and Manchester United went on from strength to strength, winning a string of honours including 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups and the Champions League twice until his retirement in May.

The playing-eleven on the sheet includes Chris Turner, Mike Duxbury, Arthur Albiston, Kevin Moran, Paul McGrath, Graeme Hogg, Clayton Blackmore, Remi Moses, Frank Stapleton, Peter Davenport, and Peter Barnes along with substitute Jesper Olsen.
