The man, identified as Ghaniur Rehman, was arrested from the Hawkes Bay area. He is believed to be a member of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Police also recovered a TT pistol from him.
The Sindh High Court’s 45-year-old lawyer was on his way to Ghulaman-e-Abbas School on Mauripur road where his sons, 15-year-old Own Abbas and 12-year-old Mohammad Abbas, were studying. The victims were shot multiple times in their heads and chests. The brothers died on the spot while their father succumbed to injuries at the Civil hospital.

@sehr.siddiqui: no lets vote for PTI and plead to them for mercy
@Hussain: Your comment is the most irresponsible one can ever imagine, and clearly based on personal anti MQM feelings, without even imagining the affects of this, for the family, or for the already troubled society, the way you have assured that it is MQM it seems you know the facts, you should come forward and present your proofs in the Court of law, if I was in your shoes knowing this much I would have taken this bold step of exposing the murderers who so ever , and I urge authorities should take your comment very serious and involve you as a witness or keep you in suspects list. None of us can imagine the grief of the murdered victim's family, and there are no words in this world that can condole the loss of a Father and 2 sons from a family, but the fact remains, unfortunately in this case there is no evidence probably, police has arrested a person and recover a pistol from him, they must try him without any delay and if this person is proven involved, he should be hanged. Or whoever has done this ghastly killing should be brought to the justice. The Governor, Chief Minister, Police Chief IG , DIG, SHO they all should be ashamed and sorry for this loss of innocent citizens, and should pledge, not to rest till the arrest of the murderer.
TTP has many members who were part of the LeJ, apart from the Afghan Taliban, and still collaborate because they share the same Wahhabi/Salafi/Deoband/Sunni extremist ideologies, except that each group has different origins, though expanding - as seen in Karachi, and pre-dominated by different ethnicities (Pashtun leadership for TTP, Punjabi leadership for LeJ).
Having peace talks with TTP is almost like having talks with LeJ and the like.
@Xnain:
TTP is a recent formation from the Taliban and other militant groups. Most of the missing persons are generally ethnic activists, such as those from Balochistan, rather than religious extremists.
@sehr.siddiqui: "Terrorists of TTP should be hanged first and tried later" thats effectively been happening for 30 years in this country, case in point missing persons.
Terrorists of TTP should be hanged first and tried later. Let us start with this killer.This will be the true justice. Courts should understand that leaving criminals on some technical grounds is gross injustice for which they will be answerable to ALLAH on day of judgement.
PTI, any thoughts?
My heart goes out for the lady who lost his husband & two teen aged sons.This beast named Ghaniur Rehman must be appropriately penalized by the Judiciary so that recurrence of such tragedies is stopped.
How about releasing all members of TTP and negotiating with them? They are good Muslims according to some.
Since no eye witnesses will be available, this man will be free again in the land of the pure. To basically kill all the police officers who dared to do this to him.
