Civil Defence: 1,000 train for emergencies

The DCO said citizens should be trained in first aid and civil defence.

BAHAWALPUR: All departments should improve their preparedness to deal with natural disasters and emergency situations, District Coordination Officer Sajid Zafar said on Thursday.

He was speaking during his visit to the District Disaster Control Room here at the Civil Defence Department. The DCO said citizens should be trained in first aid and civil defence so that the damage from accidents and natural disasters could be limited. District Officer Civil Defence Arshad Ali Chaudhry said 1,000 persons had been trained by the department.

He said several centres had been established in the Civil Defence office including a bomb disposal centre, a relief centre, and an emergency control room.
