Amid the ongoing Champions Trophy fiasco, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) directed the ministry of inter provincial coordination (IPC) to appoint an acting chairman who would represent the PCB at the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting later this month, after the suspension of Ashraf from the post on May 28.
During the course of the hearing, the court upheld the suspension of Ashraf and ordered the ministry to appoint an interim official after advocate Imtiaz Siddiqui, representing the PCB, maintained that the chief needed to attend the ICC meeting next week.
On the other hand, advocate Muhammad Faiz Ahmed argued that the entire process for the appointment of the PCB chief, which saw Ashraf become the board’s first elected chairman last month, was undemocratic, unconstitutional and based on malafide intentions.
The court adjourned the case until June 20.
