Why you must own a pair of stylish palazzos
The answer is simple: it’s a hundred degrees outside, they are super comfy and, yes, they are in fashion! There’s a myriad of shades and prints to choose from — animal, ethnic, florals, stripes, polka dots and geometric designs — so you have no reason to stick to the plain old boring whites. Runway trends have revealed that these wide-legged beauties are here to stay. So ladies, it’s time to get your funk on with a pair of printed palazzos!
It was Coco Chanel who first envisioned these fluid bottoms but it wasn’t long before others realised they were brilliant fashion staples. Like every other trend, these too may have gone out of style at some point but they’ve been making appearances on runways across the globe since 2011 and they are finally not just officially back in vogue but are very much an absolute wardrobe essential.
1. They are comfortable. That is the first and foremost reason why you should own a pair. They are fluid, wide and not clingy. In the scorching summer heat, wearing skinnies, tights and churidaars is a big problem. But when everyone’s wearing them, you end up conforming. “They are basically like pyjamas or culottes,” says fashion designer Deepak Perwani. “And in the summer heat, they are the perfect option.”
2. The second best part is that palazzos go well with both Eastern and Western ensembles. If you are opting for a desi look, it’s best to pair them up with a kurta or knee-length shirt but if you are in the mood for something more Western, then wear a playful top and tuck it in or get your hands on a button-down shirt. Jumpsuits have also taken inspiration from palazzos. They used to be fitted at the ankle before but now, they are open, drapy and flared. “Palazzos can be worn with practically anything — short or long kameezes — and they work for everyone,” says Deepak. “It’s really just about being able to pull them off.” He feels the Pakistani fashion industry is going through an erratic and versatile mode where everything has found its place. “There are straight pants, tights, shalwars, palazzos and then the fusion of the East and West can also be seen from runway trends,” he adds.
3. Another reason why these wide-legged trousers are must-haves is that they can be worn in a formal as well as casual manner, depending on the fabric they are made of. If you are heading to a formal gathering then georgette, chiffon or silk palazzos are best pick and if it’s just for a casual night out with friends or you need something for work, then lawn or cotton palazzos are great. If you wear them with heels or wedges, it will elongate the leg and give a polished touch.
This season will be very kind to pear-shaped women. Unlike skinnies and tights, palazzos don’t aim to expose your body shape and figure so you can be sure to look great when you walk out of the house.

@citizen Err it depends on which part of this globe you are on . I live in Europe and here if we get to see 30 degrees (even in peak summer) we consider ourselves lucky .
@stranger : lame. It is 48C outside for God sake !
I like those frilly flowery colourful designs. Big mango designs are my fav. But I like to show off my calves and ankles during summer. I usualy go in for skirts or shorts and not full pants. Please lets show some skin and soak in sun during summer.
caveat...............ONLY if your height is more than 5ft6in should you own palazzos
