Dental college: Students protest degree-issuance delay

Say this is causing problems in finding jobs, getting licences.

FAISALABAD:

Scores of Faisalabad Dental College students staged a demonstration on Wednesday against the college administration over non-issuance of degrees after a year into their final exams.

The students gathered on Jail Road and staged a sit-in in front of the Allied Hospital, where the dental college is housed.

They said they had passed their examinations in 2012 and had been promised degrees in 2013. They said the college had yet to issue the degrees. Some of them said this was causing problems in finding jobs, getting licences and seeking admissions for higher education.



Ghulam Fareed, one of the protesting students, said he believed that the college was affiliated with the Punjab Medical College. He said the students had later discovered that the college had yet to obtain proper the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council approval.

Students of other batches also joined the protest.

The students dispersed when PMC Principal Zahid Yaseen Hashmi told them that a letter in this regard had been sent to the PMDC. He said the college was hoping to receive an approval for award of degrees soon.
