Campaign hurdles: Female polio worker slapped

Bhittani was consequently released after being pardoned by the victim.

DI KHAN: The anti-polio campaign in Zafarabad Colony was temporarily suspended on Monday after a resident slapped a female member of the vaccination team, said a Town police station official.A team was administering vaccines to children under five in the area when one of the parents, Ghazi Khan Bhittani, refused to let the polio workers immunise his children. After a heated argument with the vaccinators, Bhittani slapped a female member of the team. Police personnel guarding the polio team arrested Bhittani on the spot and brought him to the police station. The campaign in the area was temporarily suspended as a result, but later resumed and vaccines were administered to the remaining children. Bhittani was consequently released after being pardoned by the victim.
