ISLAMABAD:

The Capital Administration and Development (CAD) ministry on Friday withdrew its decision to repatriate a staff member on deputation after a technical glitch in the official notification.

Dr Iftikhar Ahmed Khan is serving as a CAD director general on deputation from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).

According to the original notification, the official had been posted back to his parent department as the head of Radiology but, CAD Secretary Shafqat Naghmi explained that although the repatriation of the official had been approved over two weeks in advance, the notification was issued half-an-hour before the oath-taking ceremony of the new prime minister, which turned out to be a violation of Supreme Court (SC) orders.

Meanwhile Dr Iftikhar Ahmed Khan told The Express Tribune that his transfer to Pims was not in violation of SC orders.

“I am on the Pims payroll and work with CAD on deputation,” he said, adding that as one of the senior-most doctors at Pims, he has applied for the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University vice chancellor’s post, “but there are a few people who do not want me to get the job”, referring to rumours of his transfer being illegal.
