GILGIT:

Police on Friday arrested a man and his accomplice for allegedly killing the former’s sister and her paramour for ‘objectionable behaviour’ in Hunza valley.

Mohammad Naseem and Javed allegedly killed Jal Khan and Jamila in the name of honour on Thursday in Nasirabad Hunza, about 120 kilometres from Gilgit.

“The accused and his accomplice are in police custody,” said Ghulam Hamid, a police official. He further clarified the victims were not residents of Hunza valley, adding they were gypsies.

The family was reportedly looking for gold in the area around Hunza River. In search of gold, they kept relocating and changing their camps along the riverside.

“The accused claimed to have killed the couple after they saw them in an ‘objectionable state’,” said Hamid. “Their bodies were handed over to their families for burial.
