Violence at LHC: Case registered for assault at court premises

The police have now completed the investigation and will send their finding to the court of a magistrate.

Old Anarkali police registered a case against nine people, on a complaint of an additional registrar, because of causing a disturbance at the Lahore High Court.


According to a press release, issued by the Lahore High Court spokesperson, a magistrate can initiate proceedings against such persons.

The press release states that Naeem Akram, hailing from Pakpattan, had married Sonia Bibi, from Lahore, against the will of her parents.

Sonia Bibi’s family registered a kidnap case against Akram.

When the couple appeared in court, for the hearing of the kidnap case, on May 31, 2013, Sonia Bibi’s relatives including Muhammad Sarwar, Muhammad Ashiq, Tariq Ali, Muhammad Akram, Aashiq, Sabir, Imran and their three unidentified accomplices attacked the couple. The police, however, controlled the situation.

The police have now completed the investigation and will send their finding to the court of a magistrate.
