He was speaking as a chief guest at a reception on Monday evening by the Consul of Italy in Karachi, Robert Franceschinis, to mark the 67th anniversary of the proclamation of the Italian Republic.
Nisar Ahmed Khuhro lauded the support extended by Italy towards the cause of democracy in Pakistan. Nisar Khuhro referred to the rich heritage history of Pakistan and added that `We are proud of this,’ and pointed out that the 67th anniversary of the proclamation of the Italian Republic coincides with the peaceful transfer of power from one elected government to another in Pakistan for the first time during the last 66 years of the country’s history.
Khuhro added in the end that Italy has always stood side by side with the government and the people of Pakistan and this relationship is based on mutual respect and effective cooperation in various fields.
