Tennis Mudassar clinches Pharma open title

Mudassar Murtaza clinched the Pharma Open National Juniors and Seniors Championship 2013 title, defeating top seed Talha Zubair 6-3, 7-6 (10-8) in the under-18 singles event at Karachi Gymkhana yesterday.


In the under-18 girls’ category, Maheen Dada outclassed Hania Naveed 6-2, 6-4 to win the event.  Meanwhile, Muzammil, Mudassar’s younger brother, lifted the boys’ under-14 singles trophy as he beat Raza Sawani 6-2, 6-2. Hania Naveed won the girls under-14 title after outplaying Kinza Ghanchi 6-1, 6-4. In the boys’ under-12 event, Muhammad Dada defeated Muhammad Rehmat 8-6. Tanveer Haral won the plus 35 singles title as he ousted Ali Hassan Bhagat 6-4, 7-6.
