KARACHI:
Rangers’ officials shot a man dead when he failed to pull his car over in the Shah Faisal Colony area of Karachi on Tuesday, police officials confirmed.

Express News correspondent Nadeem Khan reported that Rangers signalled Ghulam Haider to stop his car but he did not, over which the officials opened fire at him, killing him on the spot.

Haider’s car consequently collided with a motorcycle, injuring the rider.

Police said that no criminal record of Haider was found in any police station and no weapons were recovered from him. The Rangers have given no official statement as yet.

The residents of the area protested in front of Shah Faisal Colony Police Station but were soon dispersed.

DG Rangers took notice of the incident and ordered the immediate suspension and detention of the accused individual. He also called for a proper investigation into the case.

A first information report (FIR) was registered, which implicates at least five Rangers personnel.
