Consensus forged: PML-N embraces ‘Q’ in Balochistan

PML-N’s Jan Jamali will be speaker and PML-Q’s Qudoos Bizenjo his deputy.

The offices of speaker and deputy speaker of Balochistan Assembly will be occupied by PML-N candidate Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali and PML-Q candidate Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo, who were elected without much ado at the parliamentary board meeting in Quetta on Monday.


Leaders from PML-Q, a party supporting the PML-N, were present at the meeting along with PML-N representatives wherein the speaker and deputy speaker for the 10th assembly of Balochistan were elected unopposed.

PML-N leaders Jan Muhammad Jamali, Asim Kurd Gailu, Sardar Saleh Bhootani and Sardar Dur Muhammad Nasir had submitted their papers for speaker Balochistan Assembly while PML N’s Sameena Khalid and PML-Q’s Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo had submitted their documents for deputy speaker.

Following the election, Mir Asim Kurd, Sardar Saleh Bhootani and Sardar Dur Muhamamd Nasir and Sameena Khan withdrew their papers.

Both speaker and deputy speaker would take oath in Tuesday’s (today’s) session of Balochistan Assembly after which Jamali would assume charges of the 13th speaker and Bizenjo as the 15th deputy speaker.

First words

The newly elected speaker Balochistan Assembly Jan Muhammad Jamali announced practical steps as soon as he assumed office.

He said that the public accounts committee would be activated and the executive would answer the cabinet.

All laws would be drafted and implemented in keeping with Balochistan’s crisis, he said.

Meanwhile, the newly elected Deputy Speaker of Balochistan Assembly Mir Qudoos Bizenjo said that steps would be taken for the prosperity and progress of the province.
