SHABQADAR:

Police foiled a possible terror bid by arresting two suspects in possession of a large amount of explosives in Batagram.

Batagram police official Amir Nawaz Khan said a car was stopped by police for a routine check. Upon a search, officials recovered around 1,000 sticks of dynamite and two bundles of fuse wire. The suspects, Noman and Mahboob Gul, both residents of Tangi Ziarat, Charssadda, claimed the explosives were meant to be used for construction purposes in the Munda Dam project. However, when they failed to produce a license issued by the Home and Tribal Affairs Department for carrying explosive materials, police arrested the men and put them behind bars.

Nawaz stated further investigations were underway.

In Mohmand Agency, explosive material such as dynamite is used by mining contractors to blast rocks instead of wire saws.
