The announcement was made as a result of breach in the security of the said exam papers.
The British Council stated on its Facebook page that it is currently investigating the violation, however the situation was not initiated in Pakistan. It added that the British Council Pakistan was not party to the compromise.
The council further mentioned that its “first priority is to ensure a valid and fair outcome for all Cambridge students.”
Below is the new schedule for the exams:

I seriously fail to understand why BC is doing this... THEY R GONNA RUIN OUR GRADE and inshallah they vil also suffer for it
big council sucks...i mean come on ....y do we have to pay ????this WAZ NOT AT ALL FAIR
Dear Sir / Madam
Reference to your open letter 5th June regarding re-take examination of Cambridge O'Level.
It is good decision to first priority is to ensure a valid and fair outcome for all Cambridge students.
My daughter appeared in May 2013 Center at DAWOOD PUBLIC SCHOOL - BAHADURABAD Karachi but there was no Airconditioner facility and used fan only.
Due to hot season you are requested to please instruct the center to install Air Conditioner over there for re-take examination in June 13 & 14.
Hoping favourable reply.
This is totally unfair , why we pay for someones dishonesty, if anyone did something wrong then British Council should take action against him or the invigilating staff there and should conduct the examinations there , not in Pakistan !!
from this decision many of students should maybe commit suicide and students don't take admission next year in ( o or a ) levels.
It is clearly against us British council is responsible for that and reexams are not the way to solve this kind of problem so please we are already very tied of giving papers for a long time please do something but not the reexams
Thats not fair .This is british council who is responsible because you didnt provide the good security so why should we suffer for the mistake which is done by british council.
@Fatima: C'mon, at the end of the day, that is your identity. Live with it. But I agree with the fact that they announced it far too late.
However, I do believe that the BC's decision is outrageous and utterly idiotic. Why should we pay, it was their own negligence that the exam was leaked, don't you know that different places have different times? So what if the sessions start at 9:00 AM or 2:00 PM all over the world? InshaAllah, all the candidates will perform even better in this session, a slap in the face for the BC.
June 3rd, 1947: The British announce Independence. June 3rd, 2013: The British announce slavery.
Why does Pakistan chooses to have these exams by foreign organizations and systems? Why couldn't Pakistan come up with its own standard education system and testing?
I see the students concern that it will mess up their schedule. However University had to preserve the integrity of the results hence everyone who have worked hard feel rejoiced that cheater wouldn't get their way and only deserving students get the marks they deserve. Also I feel students fail to appreciate anguish over two give me papers who are usually there for grade padding. If you know the material in these subjects you should have no problem unless it is science subjects that you might have forgotten. It is amazing how unthinkable it is for our new generation to accept rules. They feel even if the process has been compromised they don''t want to take the test. Most societies follow rules and having a fair exam should be more important then anything else.
it is clearly against our rights. The british council are responsible for this.we are not willing to give this exams, they have to consider our old exams. We have to protest hard against them especially Pakistani students.
Yesterday I received this shocking news of the retake of the exams .First of all I would like u to register my complain of why all the children of Pakistan have to suffer from negligence of your staff? As u all know that this decision came after to be exact 18 days of the papers. If u were sure that this breach of papers has taken place why u did,nt take the decision right away .As this incident did,nt happen in Pakistan why children of pakistan have to go through all the misery ?why you r putting all the children in devastation mode ?They all r not only frustrated by this situation but full of anger ,as why they have to suffer when they have not committed any crime ?You the administration are not realising a simple fact that in Pakistan June is the hottest month and the datesheet you all have decided is like rubbing salt in the wound. How can u do this to our children ?please think sensibly about this matter .This issue is not that simple .You are going to ruin our childrens' result. Please don,t take revenge out of your own negligence .Whoever has suggested this inhuman attitude towards 14 yr to 15 yr olds is wrong .Kindly revert this decision of retake of exams.Think of other solution.Because how can u confirm that this time it will not happen .My suggestion is to think clearly .Here you are talking about children not adults .Donot ruin their lives.Concerned mom.
This is unfortunate for all the students involved but my comment is addressed to the people who defend cie in such a time no CIE does not ''rock'' and neither is the only alternative matriculation edexcel IB and other foreign syllabi exist in pakistan and have carried their examinations out without incident hence CIE cannot be defended when other boards have maintained their integrity and sanctity advice to all those who are not in the middle of their o levels shift to edexcel!
@weird that would be because they are compulsory subjects in Pakistan regardless of whether you're following the matriculation or olevel system
Why we retake paper of Islamiat and pakstudies students protest against British council and force them to stop retaking paper
I myself gave the exams of Pakistan Studies and Islamiyat in May and when I say that I am so angered and infuriated with the British Council, I think I speak for every student who has to suffer and retake these exams. This is not fair. Why should the students pay the price for their mismanagement? I think students should boycott these retake examinations. If the British Council is investigating this matter then they will surely find out who did this and why. And when they do, they should be the ones punished not the other students. For the people who are saying that we should focus on our studies, take it easy, and give the exams again, NO WE WILL NOT TAKE IT EASY. We have studied and put in our best efforts for these exams. The C.I.E exams are taken once a year for a reason, not for giving it whenever you like each month. Action will only be taken if people put in the effort.
The British Council all over the world. They must take the following steps to conduct the O and A-Levels examination.
1) Make one paper for one time zone., and another paper for another time zone.....
2) Security at Network must be tight.
I studied hard day and night for three months straight and after te exams finished I was finally relieved. This is British Council's feedback after almost 18 days that students has to retake the examinations just because their so called fool proof system was breached. This is the worst decision made by the B.C. Ever !!!
this is not fair .we r leaving few days .
this is unfair.why we have to pay that we have not done at all . all people have plans for their summer vacations so we have also .we r leaving in few days . shame on u british council
This is very inconvenient and unfortunate for both parents and students.Having said that, kindly note...esp FATIMA the breach did not take place in Pakistan and kindly take try not to sully your identity as a Pakistani.Try to feel love for your country and identity, as the country has not done anything to anyone, its just the corrupt minority who are doing damage to our reputation.Sometimes bad things happen to good people , this could be one of those times. If it has to happen it will happen, all the cie students of Pakistan are in the same boat.Lift your head high and face the challenge, this too will pass! Inshallah, our prayers are with all of you, students!
@Salman: You say that Pakistan's educational system does not have value outside of Pakistan. In that case, why take Islamiyat and Pak studies? I doubt these two subjects have value outside of Pakistan.
@Fatima.: I don't think being a Pakistani is pathetic. However, having YOU as a Pakistani is pathetic for sure! :) Don't you dare say a word against Pakistan:) it's the people who are flawed, not the country.
This is completely unfair with students my cousin studied for last 4 months and he is unable to attend attend any activites because of cie exams and now we had a plan of summer vacations and tomorrow we are leaving but he is again not coming. This mistake is done by B.C staff and they have to pay this why the students have to pay their mistakes shame on you B.C
we are paying for someone else childish act i want to only say this we have worked hard for our grades its pathetic to give these exams again MY TRUST ON THIS BEING THE ONLY EXAMINATION WHICH IS FAIR IS OVER
"Islamiyat" is a "subject" taught at school? Is it an elective or a compulsory subject?
it's complete injustice to the rest of the stdnts to retake their exams. . . . British council should sort out the culprits. . . . .but if they are unable to do so, they should have given gap b/w papers. . .
@Fatima.: if being a Pakistani is pathetic then why are you still living this country ? :o
This is so weird. Why is British council giving exams for Pakistani students? That too in Islamiyat. What does Britain's cultural organization know about it?
@Muhammad: Why? How can we magically fix the matriculation system pray tell? Disparity in terms of education is the least of our worries. There are those who are being deprived of this basic right and look at us. There are individuals who have been divested of their basic right to thrive and live just because they sagely supported the right to education for each Pakistani child. It's not about the Pakistani matriculation system or the British education system. It's about the enlightenment of human mind. Why can't we get this through our thick skulls and stop whining about this issue? God! All we can do is querulously complain all day long. That's all we're good at.
What is thz stupidity
stop being sucker desis and start building and beliving in your system. No angels will drop from sky for you and the land you belong to.
Go fix the matric system in the country!.
can some one explaine to me what is these multiple edication systems are....
Thanks god I didn't join BC. No embarrassment now
We are not responsible for the exams being compromised. Why are we being punished? A month after the exams the cie board decides to take them again. Their irresponsibility is disappointing. For that reason I believe the cie board does not 'rock'. For those saying this is a good opportunity, no. Just no. We worked awfully hard to give the first exams and cie's put a lot of pressure on students. If that wasn't bad enough, there are two papers in one day. Four papers in two days. I don't see how that is fair.
@Ace :You do not have the right to callously recriminate those who give preference to the British education system. It's a free world. I really don't get this stupid divide that we have conjured up in our minds. At the end of the day, all of us are Pakistani's. Not burgers or whatever other epithet those scorned have come up with.
This is the worst decision taken by B.C as they have given a very short time as all 4 papers have different syllabus p1 n p2.B.C should atleast give one month time and its british coucil irresponsibility in this matter.that they were unable to conduct clean examination and also let me tell that the centres were not maintained and worst management and service. Shame on u British Coucil
Thats just horrible, I have so many friends in Karachi who were all so relieved to be done with exams and now they have to do them all over again. So unfair!!
@Anwar: But anwar, it is a bigger thing to retake the exam than to take it a bit afterwards. We all students were preparing these two subjects for about 4 months, and this is the feedback they gave us!! >:(
@Thoughtful: Because Pakistani education system isn't recognized anywhere in the world, in short, it has no value.
@Ahsan, if you had prepared the first time, it's a very good opportunity for you to give it again! Study and stop wasting time
This is a very sad prospect having to give papers after finally being free. The point is not wether the paper was easy or difficult it is the hassle that goes with having to give it again and the disappointment that summers have not yet started. I am so happy I gave these subjects last year but I pray that those who give it this year do well and I pray that something of the sort does not happen with the papers im giving this year. I find it sad that the British Council is punishing students and their families for things that they did not do. I do find them to be inconsiderate at times. But then again CIE does rock.............
this is not fair with us we are unable to prepare in a very short time
The more important question is why your children are taking British exams.
Islamiat and Pak studies are easy subject, you don't a lot of time to prep for them.
I don't like Burgers so if this makes them upset.I'm glad.
@Fatima.: Well that is ok. You are already well on your way to emigrating from the country. That is why your parents are putting you through the British education system isn't it? You are on the assembly line where emigrants to western countries are made.
Unfair with kids, highly disappointed as we all were planing holidays.......................
You guys aren't being punished, go and give the paper, it won't change anything. If you're ready, you are, or else you're not. Why, did you learn for only one day?
CIE ROCKS!
maybe you should accept being a Pakistani and focus on your studies. I remember some of us having our Olevel papers cancelled back in October/November 2010 due to security reasons
Seriously? Why are we always the ones to pay? Being a Pakistani is pathetic! There's not even proper time to complete the syllabus ONCE!
