KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Sindh President Haleem Adil Shaikh said that if prior steps were not taken for the upcoming monsoon season, the loss of life and property could be greater than the past few years. In a statement issued by the party’s provincial secretariat, he said that it is important to have contingency plans against both drought and floods to pre-empt outbreak of diseases, such as measles, gastroenteritis and diarrhea. He said that despite claims to the contrary, many organisations have failed to contain the damage caused by the floods and only the relief department was seen in the field.
