Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif made the announcement during a joint press conference in Murree.
Nawaz further said that the governor for Balochistan will be from the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP).
The PML-N, despite having most seats in the provincial assembly, gave both the major slots to NP and PkMAP.
While speaking to the media, the PML-N chief said for him, “this is not a fight for power but for values.”
Today’s meeting brought the deadlock over the joint selection of a suitable candidate as the next provincial chief minister to an end.
PkMAP and NP had not directly opposed PML-N’s Balochistan chapter president Sardar Sanaullah Zehri bid for the post, but had specifically told Nawaz’s party officials that those leaders ‘known for their corrupt practices should not be nominated as the future chief minister’.
Earlier, a petition - co-signed by 172 organisations and individuals - along with two consortiums with 220-member organisations, demanded that Baloch be made the next chief minister of Balochistan.
To restore peace in Balochistan, petitioners said, it is important to hand over the reins of government to a person who is trustworthy.

When I read the comments of "patriotic" and "educated" Pakistanis I can't help but chuckle. According to you all, this man with his 544 votes has the power and the clout to tame the demon of separatism dream on!!!
@Asim:
freedom of speech hasn't got anything to do with respecting other people's opinions. If that was the case, we should also respect Ludhianvi's opinion that all shias should be killed, or the TTP's opinion on alot of other sects as well, and the SSP's opinion that shias and ahmedis are legit targets. do you see where im going with this? The down side of freedom of speech is demonstrated perfectly in the comment i was replying to. And im afraid that the facts are on my side. The PMLN does have the most votes in Balochistan. Or do you have such a short concentration span that you've already forgotten it.
Nawaz Sharif has once again proved that he is the most mature and capable politician of Pakistan. Allah bless him.
we would have to wait and see before praising so much as ppl distributed sweets on the unceremonious exit of the previous govts of; Mian Sahib Benazir Musharaf Zia Regime
@aaaaa: Making a analysis and comments according to historical facts is not trolling my dear you should respect opinions of others thats called freedom of speech.
excellent decision by Nawaz Sharif.
@ahsan:
they had no need to subdue the nationalists as it was pmln who had the most number of seats. a little more thinking and a little less trolling will do you good.
Once again the time proves that Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is the only mature & sensible leader that Pakistan has been waiting for during the past decade to bring back the disgruntled Baloch elements into the national fold. The dictator was showing his punch in the air to scare the Balochs while the PPP was doling out funds among its cronies all in the name of "Balochistan Package". We hope that Mian Sb will gradually undo all mistakes of the "Lost Decade" and will resolve the menace of Energy Crisis, Terrorism, Target Killings etc and bring back Pakistan to the path of becoming Asian Tiger.... InshaAllah.
A very good decision to nominate a middle-class Baloch for the slot simulataneously diffusing the tension between two factions of Baluchistan PML N for the CM post.
NS has shown real maturity this time round. Hope this continues for the next 5 years.
@osama: yes he and PML-n tried their best to subdue the nationalists but in the end he succumbed to pressure like when he he announced nuclear tests only after pressures from certain quarters
Congratulations to new nominated Chief Minister of Baluchistan Mr. Abdul Malik Baluch.
This is a lesson for the other parties that being power hungry is not always a good practice. Thanks NS for showing political maturity. Baluchistan should not be ruled from outsiders but nationalist leaders. NS should show the same toward Sindh when selecting from Sindh. We need true Sindhi leaders from all parts of Sindh not a few lotas that have no roots in Sindh. Like Baluchistan only two mainstream parties from Sindh be included in the federal govt.
Change has come................ I am optimistic about Pakistan's future.
Excellent decision. Nawaz Sharif is thinking like a great leader; cary first for the country. He could have nominated PML-N candidate for CM and Governor slot; but he took the right decision in greater interest of the province and the country. Best wishes to PM Nawaz Sharif.Pakistan Zindabad
in few days people will forget this and label PMLN a party of punjab only, like people forgot role of NS in judiciary movement. NS should have been more aggressive in KPK and Balochistan.its politics not Miss Congeniality pageant
very wise and good decision taken by Nawaz Sharif
very wish and mature decision done by Nawaz Sharif
I'm not a PML-N supporter but here credit must be given to Mian Sahab for a mature decision which is in the interest of not only the people of Baluchistan but also the nation as a whole. Bravo!
A good step in the right direction. I must admit that so far NS has made some spectacular decisions i.e. Respecting PTI mandate in KPK and appointment of Malik as CM Balochistan in spite of having the majority. Appreciated!
In this regard Mahmood Khan Achakzai's vision and his role must be appreciated. Nawaz Sharif is fortunate having Achakzai on his side. This man is perfect democrat and never bowed down before the dictators. It is high time to bar army permanently from politics. If we succeeded in keeping army and ISI away from politics, I am sure Pakistan will emerge as a stable and progressive state. Achakzai has very clear stance on the ongoing stance on militancy and a clear vision to eradicate it. Like the previous day he said Drones is in violation of Pakistan sovereignty but we must tell to the people why Drones are violating our sovereignty. We need to reassess our foreign policy particularly towards Afghanistan and India.
as PTI supporter i really admire this decision of Nawaz Sharif's. Betterment of Pakistan is beyond party politics.
Good decision... Finally we see common sence prevailing in the country's key decisions.
I think this decision take Pakistan and Balochistan far ahead from Yesterday's Pakistan and Balochistan, Well Done PMLN. Giving CM slot to NP and Governorship to PKMAP is an excellent Decision. Values win rather power .. truly said NS.
This is excellent decision by PMLN and credit goes to Nawaz Sharif. Still he has to do more to restore, build and win Baloch sisters and brothers hearts & minds. Pakistan's future prosperity and development depends on peaceful Baluchistan. Good luck to Dr. Malik.
CM from a middle class family will always understand problems of common peaple.he will be keen to reach a compromise with every person living in balochistan. good decision taken by pml n.
We need a leader who unite the nation, Hope this leadership will work properly. Wish you best of luck
Finally balochistan will have a credible person as Chief Minister.
I am a great supporter of PTI but admire this decision of Nawaz. Good start in balochistan
A respectable and trust worthy politician cum humble person derserves the position. Good job by Mian Sb!
Really bad news for the criminal elements, kidnapping mafias and extremists based in Balochistan. Great news for the common people of Balochistan.
amazing start, he is taking all the correct decisions where it matters, and he is fast becoming a statesman, public is starting to acknowledge his decisions too, we need to back him and appreciate his good decisions.. Good Luck NS
Right direction , good work MNS
Though a PTI supporter but i must say an excellent decision. The first ever non Sardar PM of Balochistan he can be. Certainly he will be much more aware of peoples interest than anyone else in the province.
A great decision in right direction. People of Balochistan first time going to be ruled by such a cheif minister who is not a sardar rather an educated and middle class person. Now it is onus to malik to make every best effort to steer province towards development and prosperity. Restore Balochs shattered confidence in pakistan state. Good luck balochistan.
first great & bold move by Nawaz! hopefully this will be great for Pakistan!
PkMAP and NP are two trustworthy major polical parties of Balochistan, truely represnting the two major ethnic groups of the Province. This is what the majority of the people of Balochistan wanted. This arrangement in Balochistan means the end of insurgency and a peace of mind for Mr. Nawaz Sharif.
Bravo Mian Sahib ! You've truly shown your political maturity.
Sincerely,
a PTI "TROLL"
Well Done Nawz Sharif. These practices can make you and federation stronger.
Its worth respecting personal and other's mandate.
Best.
good job done
Excellent decision by Nawaz Sharif. Shows that he is thinking about the nation's interest rather than party politics. I hope this helps in restoring normalcy in Balochistan.
with a non-sardar and an educated middle class Dr. Malik we can expect an improvement in this province which remained backward because of Sardars more than any other factor. Dr. Malik should stop financing LEVYs as the money goes to sardars. Hub should be made an industrial town instead of kidnapers' safe heaven.
The people of Balochistan--Balochs and Pakhtuns-- thank Mian Nawaz Sharif for choosing Dr. Malik Baloch as the new CM of Balochistan. It's the victory of virtue over vice.
Zehri is known for corrupt practices and fueling his tribalism! In case he was made the CM of province, he would immediately start an operation against who he thinks are involved in killing of his son, brother and nephew. He is not a leader, he is a con! good decision!
A very good move by Nawaz Sharif. Though I am not a fan of NS but I must admit his political maneuvers are good.
