Tennis: Saad progresses to third round

Saad Muhammad Ali cruised into the third round of the Pharma Open Tennis Championship boys’ under-18 singles event as he defeated Aqeel Shabbir 0-6, 6-4, 10-4 at Karachi Gymkhana yesterday.


In another match, Shahab Gul overcame Aman Gul to progress to the second round. Similarly, Kainat Zulfiqar had a winning start as she outplayed Wania Khan 7-5, 3-6, 10-8 in the girls’ under-18 event.

In the under-12 boys’ singles event, Ashish defeated top-seed Shazil Malik   8-7, while Muhammad Ahmed beat Mustafa Iqbal 8-0. Meanwhile, Noorullah Dhanani defeated Muhammad Yaseen 6-1, 5-7, 10-2 in the first round match of the plus 35 seniors event.
