Punjab Assembly: MPAs sworn in during inaugural session

The chief minister will be sworn in at the Governor House on June 6.

Punjab Assembly commenced its first session on Saturday during which newly elected members took oath, reported Express News.  

The opening session of the 16th Punjab Assembly was presided over by incumbent Speaker Rana Iqbal Khan, who also administered the oath of office to the newly elected members.

“I hope you fulfill the expectations of the people who have brought you here. My best is with you,” said Rana Iqbal to the members after administering the oath.


The chief minister will be sworn in at the Governor House on June 6.

Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz has a large majority in the new assembly, having won 214 of the 293 seats to which members are elected directly.

The party has nominated Shahbaz Sharif to be chief minister of the province again. PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah is also expected to reprise his role of the last five years as minister for law and parliamentary affairs.
