Protest: Employees demand regularisation

ABBOTABAD: Contractual employees of the University of Engineering and Technology, Abbottabad have threatened to protest if they were not regularised.

The employees, wearing black armbands held a protest outside the university, demanding permanent jobs. Contractual Employees Union President Basheer Ahmed alleged that the vice chancellor of university has turned the institute into his private fiefdom. Basher alleged that the vice chancellor has inducted his son on a two-year contract without carrying out due process, while their contracts were renewed every six months.

The employees demanded regularisation and threatened to besiege the university if their demands were not met.
