Groom confusion: Two claim to be woman’s husband

GUJRANWALA: A woman was sent to a shelter home by a magistrate on Thursday after two men claimed to her husband. Police said the woman, a resident of Rahuwali, told the court that she had married without her family’s approval on May 27. Police said her family had filed a kidnapping case against her husband on May 28. The family said that nine days before she eloped with the man and married him, they had married her to another man. They said the nikah had been solemnised and that the wedding ceremony was scheduled in a few weeks. In the court, the woman denied signing the nikahnama and said that the one presented by her parents was bogus. The court sent the woman to a shelter home and ordered the police to investigate the matter.
