Enforcers of law: IGP vows to tackle militancy

Says duties should be performed sincerely to curb crime.

MINGORA: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) IGP Ehsan Ghani visited Swat Valley to attend a police darbar in Police Lines Mingora on Thursday.

Addressing the police darbar, Ghani acknowledged the sacrifices made by the police and public to help restore peace. He promised their services will not be forgotten. “The war on terror – imposed upon us – will be tackled bravely.”

The IGP vowed to equip the K-P police with modern weapons and maintained steps were being taken to regularise the special police force. “It is hoped they will be regularised. If not, their contract will be extended for another year,” assured Ghani.

According to Ghani, there were special plans in the pipeline for personnel who have not been trained and are at the age of retirement.

He also praised the overall performance of the K-P police during the general elections, adding it was a challenge but the police managed to help conduct elections in a peaceful manner.

The police was in contact with the newly-elected government to bring reforms in the police system, shared the IGP.

He stressed the police resolve public issues with honesty and perform their duties with sincerity. “To ensure justice, the police should consider themselves as public servants and not masters.”

At the end, the K-P IGP distributed training completion certificates to the policmen and awards to the top performers.

DIG Malakand along with all DPOs, DSPs were also present on the occasion.
