According to a spokesperson for The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra), per unit reference price of electricity was set at Rs4.1. However distribution companies contested the figure and estimated per unit price at Rs3.77.
The spokesperson said that after reviewing the statistics Nepra set unit price at Rs3.68 which pushed the power tariff down by 33 paisas. In addition to that, Nepra rolled back 26 paisas per unit in lieu of last month's fuel adjustment charges, which allowed an overall relief of 59 paisas to the consumers.
The new power tariff will not be applicable on Lifeline consumers or the KESC.
