LAHORE: The incoming Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government has decided to replace heads of all those loss-making state-owned enterprises that need a cushion of billions of rupees every year to keep their wheels moving.
This was announced by PML-N central leader Ahsan Iqbal, who said heads and chief executives of loss-making giants like Pakistan Steel Mills, PIA, Pakistan Railways and Pakistan National Shipping Corporation would be removed in an effort to end financial haemorrhaging worth hundreds of billions of rupees.
“Applications for these high posts will be invited through advertisements in the media on the very first day the new government takes over,” Iqbal told members of the Lahore Economic Journalists Association here on Wednesday.
He stressed that the new government would make every possible effort to ease the sufferings of people caused by power outages. In this regard, short and long-term measures were underway.
But he did not give any timeframe, saying it would be illogical to set a deadline or date for the end of load-shedding as this may lead to media trial of the new government.
PML-N is also working on a five-year development plan for Punjab and will prepare all future budgets of the province in line with this plan. “We want to make Punjab a model economy for other provinces and the federation,” Iqbal said.
He claimed that the Punjab government did not tolerate corruption in the past five years and a similar policy would be formulated at the federal and provincial levels for the next five years.

Please note and quick action to start with Benazeer Bhutto Income Sport, OGDC, Custom, National Highway and Motorway Authority, Railway, Pakistan Steel, PIA, KESC, Federal Board of Revenue, State Bank of Pakistan and lot of National Department have Chairman and Members appointed through open transparent recruitment process. Let those in government service also apply.
And now, it's our turn...!
Action speaks louder than words.
I hope this time PML-N does not plan to place cronies like Nadir Ch or some other Matriculates pass as head of PIA. Men like Shahid Khaqan Abbasid should be given no ministry which relates to aviation, nor till such time he has active known commercial interests such as Air Blue
Please start with FBR and have Chairman and Members appointed through open transparent recruitment process. Let those in government service also apply.Same should be done in all state corporations
Mr.Ahsan Iqbal.........There has to be purge in PIA & all those over 6 thousand political nominees of PPP(a bunch of inadequates) should be interviewed against advertised positions & if they qualify they may be retained if not show them out. Each & every manager in the Head Office or in the field in Pakistan or abroad must also be interviewed whether or not they were posted on merit.Merit alone is the criteria to take the airline from the red into black. We are not a rich country & even Petro- Dollar rich countries do not adhere to open skies policy any more. All countries of the world protect the interest of their national carriers so should Pakistan. As & when the government decide to move in this direction, they will find many other areas of the airlines which need immediate attention for remedial action.Last thing, though the GOP have proprietary rights, yet political interference must be stopped in day to day functioning of the airlines & then expect nothing ,but the best results & turn around of PIA to its past glory.
unless politics is not separated from business, the result would be the same.
