PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Governor Shaukatullah has directed concerned authorities to expedite the process of disbursing funds meant to compensate traders and businesses affected by militancy-related incidents.

Presiding over a meeting at the Governor House on Tuesday, Shaukatullah also expressed willingness to compensate the poultry industry for any losses incurred due to militancy. He also explored the possibility of relocating markets if existing locations were not feasible and help businesses restart economic activity.

The governor reviewed the security arrangements in place for 17 oil and gas companies willing to work in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. He said the field staff should be taken into confidence regarding their plans.

Taking notice of the attack on a polio team in Peshawar that killed a lady worker on Tuesday, Shaukatullah condemned the incident and expressed shock over the tragedy. He expressed sympathy with the family of the deceased and said such attacks are part of nefarious attempts to put the future of the next generation at stake. It exposes children to fatal diseases, he added.
