KARACHI: The police will award Rs2.5 million to any informant leading up to the arrest of the assassinators of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Zahra Shahid Hussain. Hussain was shot outside her house in DHA Phase IV on May 18, a day before the NA-250 re-elections.

After the family’s refusal to lodge a case, an FIR was registered on the state’s behalf at the Gizri police station against unidentified persons. DIG South Dr Ameer Shaikh, while making the announcement for the reward money, said the person giving out the information would have his identity concealed.

The police sources told The Express Tribune that a few suspects were detained and questioning was underway to investigate further. The police investigators have yet to record Hussain’s driver and a family member’s official statement. Investigation officer, Ali Ahmed told The Express Tribune that driver’s and family member’s statement is important for the case investigation and that they would issue a legal notice to the family for statements, as they had refused to do so.
