LONDON: Ever since a British soldier was knifed to death last week by suspected militants claiming that it was in retaliation of the number of Muslims who are killed worldwide, fears have risen amongst British Muslims, CNN reported.

According to Humberside county police, two men were arrested in England's east coast after a mosque was set on fire.

A day before the fire, a demonstration was carried out in the town center by the anti-Muslim English Defence League. By Monday, hundreds of EDL supporters had marched to Prime Minister David Cameron's central London office to protest.

Infuriated by the murder of Lee Rigby the British soldier, protests were called across Britain by EDL. The police only intervened when the demonstrators started throwing objects at counter-demonstrators.

Supporters of EDL were also heard asking the Muslims to leave Britain.

Fear at the mosque

Fiyaz Mughal, who operates a hotline for Muslims under attack said within 48 hours after Rigby's killing, he had received 162 reports from people claiming that they had been called names and thrown objects at.

Eight mosques were attacked across the country, he added.
