Member of the MQM Coordination Committee Haider Abbas Rizvi alleged an artificial power crisis was being created to cover up for the fact that most of the gas reserves of Sindh were being transferred to the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).
Rizvi said the financial discrepancies between Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) had occurred way in the past and could easily be resolved through better financial management. Why was gas supply being reduced in the hottest months of the year, he asked.
The MQM leader said that residents of Karachi were already victims of loadshedding and were facing the now facing the resultant water shortage despite being regular tax-payers. He added that making Karachiites suffer would only be detrimental to Pakistan's economy in the long-run.
Rizvi added that the MQM is willing to assist the government in resolving the power crisis of Karachi

After 5 years in power and after being booted out of government, MQM suddenly realized that the gas share was being stolen. That is really classic, even from MQM, who have come up with some real gems in the past.
MQM the true representatives of Karachi
Middle, lower-middle and lower class Karachites willl vote MQM till death. Because they only talk about the problems of Karachi. No other party does the same and they don't care....

Our politicians start scoring and misleading common man for their political motives. The 90mmscfd Gas from SSGCL to SNGPL was being provided ONLY because Qadirpur plant was shut down for 7 days for annual repair & maintainance. This is a normal practice in Gas sector. The Qadirpur is now operative & now NO Gas is being supplied to SNGPL by SSGCL. The all stupidity, hatred speeches & allegations must be put to stop to an end.

@All those passing negative comments on MQM from Karachi . please go to Lahore and face the harrowing load shedding just for two days and then you would be thanking MQM on your knees that there is no such thing as laod sheeding in Karachi .ingrateful bunch .

I have a suggestion for all those saying that people of Karachi have got better alternate in PTI - dont follow anyone blindly...PTI hasnt raised a voice on load shedding issue..And irony is shirren mazari tweeted yesterday about Khi not having loadshedding...So, if someone is raising voice..atleast support them on the genuine issue.

Sindh is largest producer of oil and gas in country, currently Sindh is producing 71% of gas and 56% of oil. At present Balochistan produces around 22% of gas in country. Sindh consumes 45% of the gas it produces while Punjab consumes 930% of gas it produces. Though Sindh produce 56% of oil production but it has 76% of known oil reserves.It is not provincialism to talk about rights and state facts. Every province is bestowed with their natural resources and they should not be violated by any one else. MQM should also highlight these facts and figure, and talk about whole province of Sindh rather than just focusing on political gains and point scoring in Karachi. Because MQM has also been in power for last 14 years. They also need to take responsibility of failure.

Anyone living in Punjab for a longer time now is a Punjabi and association with the city does not make you to shun your identity Lahore is a culture capital of Punjab and I live in Lahore also but it does not end my identity as a Punjabi as if someone claims to be a Lahori then he is implicit to be a Part of Identity of Punjab. Lahore's culture is actually the culture of Punjab. But on the contrary I have met many from Karachi who always tell me that they have nothing to do with Sindh and it is entirely different to the situation in Punjab where Lahore or Faisalabadi or Sialkoti does not make you hate the region or culture or language where you are born and bred actually. .
I do not agree with everything the MQM does, but they are still my favorite political party.
KESC was being given subsidies on oil by PSO and on Gas by SUI Southern for past three years. PSO is broke and Sui sothern is going same way, somewhere it had to stop.
Similarly 650 Megawatts is being provided to KESC on subsidized rates from national grid for past three years. All this was done on promise from KESC that they will add their own generation in next three years, they have added none! Rest of the country cannot subsidized KESC forever.
Time has come to make decisions on merit not on connection to some political Mafia.
Gas is from Sindh and as per law when Sindh's needs are met can other provinces use this resource.

Being expert in Gas sector ...Very much right ... In KPK after 18th amendment Peshawar High court chief justice took so-motive decision that there will be no Gas load shedding in KPK as we will meet our demand then will transfer gas to Punjab ... After this decision there is no gas load shedding in KPK even in winter ...Sindh has equal right for the same decision ...
