The Pakistan Peoples Party’s contenders for the slot of Sindh chief minister are throwing lavish receptions for the elected MPAs of the party to gain their support in the new political scenario, The Express Tribune has learnt.
One such reception was hosted on Sunday by the former chief minister of Sindh Qaim Ali Shah and MPA-elect Owais Muzaffar in honour of PPP’s members of the provincial assembly at Bilawal House.
The reception was attended by senior party leaders including Khurshid Ahmed Shah, Dr Fehmida Mirza, and Agha Siraj Durrani.
Owais Muzaffar said that the PPP government completed its five year term due to its reconciliation policy, which will continue in the future too.
It is pertinent to mention here that President Asif Ali Zardari is the final authority to pick the man for the top provincial job, but different groups are lobbying in the PPP to get the person of their choice nominated as the next chief minister of Sindh.
PPP leader Sharjeel Inam Memon talking to the media said consultations were under way in the party to nominate the next chief minister of Sindh.
He said the party will finalise and make public the name of the next leader of the house after oath taking session of Sindh Assembly on May 29.
Party sources said that Qaim Ali Shah, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani are in the race for the CM’s slot.
