Timely action: Low-intensity bomb defused in Hangu Bazaar

BDS official says 700 grammes of explosives were used in the bomb.

HANGU:

A low-intensity bomb planted by unidentified militants near a confectionery shop in Hangu Bazaar was defused by the bomb disposal squad (BDS) on Saturday morning.

According to Azmat Khan, an official of the city police, the owner of a sweets and confectionary shop Noor Daraz informed the police he had spotted a suspicious canister placed in front of his shop when he arrived in Hangu Bazaar early in the morning to sell milk.

Khan said he along with other police officials rushed to the spot and called BDS Hangu incharge Asadullah for assistance.

Asadullah reached the site and defused the explosives planted in the canister.

The BDS official said 700 grammes of explosives were used in the bomb. It was powerful enough to destroy the entire shop, he added.

Police filed a report against the unidentified militants. According to police officials, the shop owner said he did not have enmity with anyone and had not received threats from any militant groups.
