The Reluctant Fundamentalist

Films like The Reluctant Fundamentalist can help us move towards peace.

LAHORE: This is apropos to your story “Film premiere: The Reluctant Fundamentalist comes to Pakistan” (May 24). More people are influenced by films than by books. The policies of the American administration shape to a great extent the mind of the man on the street in America, as well as in Pakistan. The internet has made it much harder for governments to get away with policies that are against peace. The tide is slowly turning in favour of peace.

However, it is a long process and films like The Reluctant Fundamentalist can help us move towards peace. The beneficiaries of the present turmoil are well organised, in power and have immense resources. To make matters worse, they enjoy what they are doing and will fight to protect the current system.
