Winner from the constituency offered the seat to the former president at a meeting.
CHITRAL:
All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) chief former president Pervez Musharraf turned down the National Assembly seat offered to him by the winning candidate from NA-32 Chitral, Shahzada Iftikharuddin.
Talking to journalists at the Chitral Press Club on Friday, Iftikhar said he had held a meeting with Musharraf and presented his NA seat to him as he deserved it in the true sense, however, the former president declined the offer.
Iftikhar said Musharraf appreciated the loyalty of the people of Chitral and promised to launch other mega-projects and development schemes in the constituency.
Musharraf also said he would personally visit Chitral to thank the people for supporting the APML, Iftikhar stated.
The MNA further told journalists Musharraf had directed him to sit on the opposition benches, in order to support the government in their governance and oppose policies which were not favourable to the nation.
According to Iftikhar, the former president had told him the people of Chitral had elected him to power because of the completion of mega-projects like the Lowari Tunnel and other development schemes.
Musharraf further told Iftikhar he would contemplate the NA seat after he was free from the issues he was facing.
Musharraf had earlier been detained in his Chak Shahzad farmhouse on charges of conspiracy to murder two-time prime minister Benazir Bhutto and other cases. He was granted bail by an Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi on Monday.
