Passenger Vehicles: Erring transporters fined Rs1.24m

The Transport Department has collected an amount of Rs1,246,040 as penalty so far.

PESHAWAR: In compliance with the orders of Peshawar High Court (PHC) the Transport Department on Thursday initiated action against transporters involved in overcharging, overloading and ignoring safety measures in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) operated passenger vehicles.

During the period, a total of 843 vehicles were fined for overcharging, 2,047 vehicles fined for non-safety measures, 110 vehicles for non-concession, 215 vehicles for overloading and 132 vehicles for smoke emission.

The Transport Department has collected an amount of Rs1,246,040 as penalty so far.
