RAWALPINDI:

Dilshad, a wireless operator who transmitted an unverified system alert during the Chinese premier’s arrival on Wednesday, was suspended for creating confusion among the security apparatus on Thursday.

The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Syed Ishtiaq Shah told APP that a traffic police official, mistook the sound of the 21-gun salute presented to the distinguished guest at the airport as a possible bomb explosion.

The traffic warden immediately conveyed an alert to the control room where the wireless operator put it on the main system without any confirmation.

Shah said within no time all wireless sets were resounding the report of a bomb blast, causing confusion among the security departments during such a crucial VIP visit.

“We came to know that it was a bogus call but it disturbed various security departments,” he said.  The CTO informed that an inquiry was underway.
