DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A nomadic woman sustained severe injuries on Thursday when a mine exploded inside her house in Hethalla village, Kulachi tehsil, said a police official.

The official said the woman’s children brought home water in a container from the field. However, when Manra Bibi took the container from her children, a mine placed inside it went off. She was rushed to District Headquarters Hospital and then referred to DI Khan Teaching Hospital where she is currently receiving treatment.

It has not yet been ascertained what kind of mine it was. An investigation into the incident is underway, added the official.

Hethalla in DI Khan is often flooded by water from Waziristan. When the region was inundated in 2010, anti-personnel mines, hand grenades and other explosive materials were washed into the area, causing several incidents of this nature.
