Apprehended: Two suspected militants arrested

Two kilogrammes along with ball bearings – components used to make bombs – were found in a polythene bag.

The district police on Wednesday arrested two suspected militants in Kharmato area and recovered explosives from their possession.


Billitang police official Imran Khan said they had established a checkpoint near Kharmato graveyard where they signaled a motorcyclist to stop for routine checking. During the search, two kilogrammes along with ball bearings – components used to make bombs – were found in a polythene bag.

During interrogation, the accused, Piyao Noor, lead the police to his accomplice who was hiding inside a house in the same area. Khan said police raided the house and arrested the suspected militant, identified as Abdul Qadir. Police also recovered 15 kilogrammes of powdered explosives, two kilogrammes of phosphate along with safety fuses from the premises. Both suspected militants were shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation.
