NEW DEHLI: If you are planning to go on a summer vacation, make sure you are well-equipped. If stylish hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen lotion are a must have, avoid overloading bags and over-exerting yourself.

Travel light: Carry stuff that you actually need. Don't overload your bag with unnecessary stuff. Talk to a stylist at a fashion store to help you plan your wardrobe for your summer holiday.

Summer essentials: Don’t forget to carry stylish caps and hats to keep your head cool in the sun. Carry sunscreen lotion to protect your skin from sunburn. Use facial tissues to avoid stickiness on your face and hands while travelling. You can also carry hand fans especially on a hot day at the beach.

Eat and drink healthy: Take fluids, mineral water, coconut water, orange juice and squashes to avoid dehydration and sunstrokes. Eat cucumber, watermelon and oranges.

Arrive early at airport: Summer is a busy season for airports. You are bound to face long queues, delays in parking and so on. Hence, it is always safer to arrive little early and give yourself enough time to complete the formalities. Online check-ins are also recommended.

Take rest: The sun tends to make you feel weary and drained out. Try to take rest as much as you can the night before leaving for a holiday so that you make the most of your holiday.

Indulge in exciting activities: Early morning or evening is the best time to indulge in outdoor activities and expeditions as opposed to afternoons. If you want to stay inside, opt for a hotel that offers a host of indoor activities to keep you occupied. Avoid going out during afternoon.

Last Minute Deals: If you have planned your trip in a hurry, worry not! Last minute deals offered by the hotels can benefit you. Application for smartphones and tablets can help you check out over 20,000 last-minute deals by popular hotels worldwide.

For most of us , if we are more stressed and more drained during hols , its supposed to be a successful hol. Look at westerners they go for a hol just to laze around some place the entire day. We in the subcontinent will go and roam aruond nonstop in sun and severe weathers/ take hundreds of pics/ try to squeeze in as many sight seeing as possible and come back totally exhausted. Especially food - we simply gorge on food / All diet and health restrictions go down the drain. I think this article reminds us of some basics.
